TAPBDS Information

TAPBDS brings together BDS Providers capacitated under the Youth Entrepreneurship Facility of the ILO and Ministry of Labour and Employment in Tanzania from 2010 to 2011. We founded this organization understanding that SMEs require credible BDS firms positioned to offer local solutions specifically designed to build enterprising skills and boost production, access to capital as well as access to markets. For over 10 years, our services have transformed SMEs in the agriculture, retail, manufacturing and service sectors. Our approach is cognizant of the systemic institutional complexities surrounding SMEs in Africa and particularly in the East African region. We have managed to excel this far because of embracing partnerships and readiness to collaborate with the government, other private sector actors, and the UN and development organizations. In the course of our operations, we have piloted and successfully built BDS Products that address the needs of our local SMEs. Besides, we have adopted standardized and internationally recognized BDS tools such as the ILO - Start & Improve Your Business, the International Trade Centre’s (ITC) - Enterprise Diagnostic and Business Planning and International Youth Foundation - Passport to Success (PTS). TAPBDS has a Local Expert Network (LEN) agreement with SCOPE insight, an organization which designs and supports Agri-SMEs professionalization.
