Tanga Cement Company Ltd. is a producer and supplier of SIMBA CEMENT used in construction and manufacturing of concrete products. The construction of Tanga Cement commenced in 1978 with commissioning taking place in July 1980. The plant was designed and constructed by the Danish company, FLSmidth. The company underwent an expansion program in 2009 and increased its capacity from 750,000tons to 1.25million tons per annum of cement. It is currently planning to build a second Kiln line alongside the existing Kiln using TCIDRI (a subsidiary of SINOMA - China) as the turn-key EPC contractor. The new line is expected to be commissioned in 2015. Tanga Cement is a public listed company on the Dar-es-salaam stock exchange. The majoriyt shareholder is AfriSam (SA) Pty. Ltd.
