Tamarkin Camera is an authorized Leica Camera and Sport Optics dealer with a showroom in the River North Gallery district in downtown Chicago. We are also mail-order Leica dealers. Within our showroom is The Rangefinder Gallery, which showcases images made with the legendary Leica M camera. Leaders in Leica quality, expertise and service, Tamarkin Camera sells more Leica per square foot than any Leica dealer in the world. Company founder Stan Tamarkin started collecting, buying, and selling Leica cameras in 1971. Since 1984 Leica has been our full-time focus. In 1996, Stan Tamarkin started a successful rare camera auction business, Tamarkin Rare Camera Auctions, and since then has held auctions in New York, Denver, Tucson, Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, and New Haven. From 1995 to 2008 we also had a showroom in New York City, however we closed that location to be closer to our families. Since the beginning we have been in the New Haven, Connecticut area. Until recently, when we moved to Chicago after Stan retired and his eldest son, Dan, took over the family business. We pride ourselves on offering Quality, Service and Expertise.
