Takaokami is rainwear for the city, for urban lovers living and biking the metropoles Why is it in Denmark that rainwear always is designed for survival trips in the Swedish wilderness or a 3 month stay on a fishing boat in the North Sea? A question asked by designer Emma Jorn after a trip to Tokyo. In Tokyo Emma experienced how rain can get the Japanese to walk in flip flops with rain cover to the toes, with rain jackets to stilettos and with umbrellas in a thousand colors. They will not budge for rain - they live in it and exploit it to be extra cool. With Takaokami - which is the name of a Japanese regngud - Emma has started a graceful revolution (#rainvolution) in rainwear for women by combining the Japanese daring with Nordic design: "We live in the cities where it is more than allowed to look good - even if it rains. So why would a metropolitan rains not also be a seductive invitation to dress up with style, finesse and femininity?" Says Emma Jorn. She has created a feminine rain dress, which could also be a wedding dress, a hat the size of an umbrella and a rain cover with room for three, a set of rain gear for your bicycle basket + handlebars, a rain burka, a raincoat that Coco Chanel would die for and a rain skirt that keeps thighs and knees dry without being boring.
