Tailwind Care is building a better way to care for kids and teens with metabolic health concerns through a family-centered model. Too often, families are left to navigate fragmented care, long waitlists, and a system that treats medical, nutritional, and behavioral needs separately. We bring medical care, nutrition, and behavioral health together in one coordinated, evidence-based program, covered by insurance. Our goal is to help kids and teens build healthier lives, with care that’s practical, compassionate, and built around the whole family. Our clinical team brings deep expertise in pediatric obesity, nutrition, and family-centered care. Valerie O’Hara, DO, FAAP, FOMA, DABOM, our Founding Medical Director, is a dual board-certified pediatrician and obesity medicine physician with more than 25 years of experience. She previously founded and directed interdisciplinary pediatric obesity and metabolic health clinics in Maine, pioneered telemedicine for pediatric obesity care in rural communities, and serves as operational lead and co-author of the Obesity Medicine Association’s Pediatric Obesity Algorithm. Colleen Sloan, PA-C, RDN, our Nutrition Program Design & Clinical Education Lead, brings more than 15 years in healthcare and expertise spanning pediatric medicine, nutrition, and weight management. Kimberly Avila Edwards, MD, MSHCT, FAAP is a board-certified pediatrician with more than 20 years of experience caring for Texas families and has focused on children’s nutrition, healthy habits, and weight since 2002, including helping develop the American Academy of Pediatrics’ clinical practice guideline for pediatric obesity. Together with our growing team of medical providers, registered dietitians, and behavioral health clinicians, they’re building care around the whole child and family, rather than asking families to piece it together themselves.
