The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) is a national funding, expert and service agency for promoting the arts. Taike together with its arts councils and boards awards grants to professional artists and subsidies to communities in the field of the arts. Annually, Taike allocates 40 million euros as grants and subsidies. Each year Taike receives 14,000 applications on which it makes decisions. These decisions are based on peer reviews within its expert bodies. Altogether, 200 peer reviewers are involved in the decision-making process. Taike also offers expertise for example in public art, cultural diversity, municipal cooperation and cultural wellbeing. The Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and The National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) and have merged to form the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency. The new agency continues the former tasks of KAVI and Taike.
