SyndicateRoom was founded in 2013 on a simple observation: most people backing startups had no real way of knowing whether they were doing it well. We set out to treat angel investing as a data problem, not a guessing game — and have spent over a decade building the analysis to back it. Our research into UK startup returns found they follow a power law distribution, with an alpha of 1.8 indicating a "fat tail" where extreme outliers occur far more often than conventional models assume. That insight shapes how we work: we track the performance of hundreds of thousands of individual UK angel investors, and have identified just 183 — 0.06% — who have consistently delivered 5x+ returns across portfolios of 8 or more companies. We call them Super Angels, and we've built our model around investing alongside them to gain access to the best deals. Beauhurst ranked us the second most active venture capital fund in the UK in 2022, based on the number of deals completed that year. Since 2012, we've deployed over £84 million into more than 380+ companies, backed by over 3,000 investors. We invest both sector-agnostically and through focused strategies in climate tech, female-founded tech, life sciences and deep tech — areas where we believe data-driven, angel-led investing has the clearest edge. SyndicateRoom is an FCA-regulated fund manager built on that same founding principle: rigorous analysis of where returns in early-stage investing actually come from, and the connections needed to act on it.
