With approximately 65,000 students and over 10,000 employees, Virginia Beach City Public Schools continues to be a highly successful, diverse school district and employer of choice. The City of Virginia Beach, located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay, frequently makes the "best places" lists in a number of publications. Articles frequently cite its high performing schools, low crime rate and mild climate as reasons why the area is considered such a desirable place to live. Known as a vacation destination because of its 22 miles of public beaches, Virginia Beach is also a great place to live, work and play.

Norfolk Public Schools serves the City of Norfolk, the cultural and financial hub of southeastern Virginia. Home to the world’s largest Navy base, Norfolk covers approximately 66 square miles with nearly a quarter-million citizens. The Hampton Roads metro area is home to approximately 1.5 million people. Norfolk Public Schools includes 33 elementary, seven middle, and five high schools in addition to a variety of auxiliary facilities (early childhood centers, a career and technical center, a pre-IB 3-8 school, and other support facilities) and serves more than 33,000 students. The school system employs approximately 6,278 staff members, including more than 2,511 teachers. NPS is the cornerstone of a proudly diverse community. The York County School Division is an award-winning school system serving more than 13,000 students in the heart of the Virginia's historic triangle, situated between Virginia Beach and Richmond. The division provides an array of rigorous and diverse programs, that few school systems of similar size can match, such as Elementary Fine Arts and Math, Science, and Technology Magnet schools and the International Baccalaureate program.
