Sutton Synagogue Information

Described as one of the most beautiful synagogues in LONDON, Sutton & District Synagogue is part of the United Synagogue and serves the Jewish community of south London, south-west London and Surrey. With over 180 members, Sutton is a warm, friendly, caring and vibrant community led by an experienced minister whose services are much enjoyed. Regular and varied activities take place in and around the centrally located Synagogue and cater for all age groups. There are Cheder arrangements for children up to Barmitzvah / Batmitzvah age, adult education programmes, and social and cultural events to stimulate and inspire. Click here to read more... Shmully is Manchester born and bred (United supporter!). He studied in yeshiva in both Gateshead and Ramat Beit shemesh, Israel. Tamara was born in South africa and at the age of 7 moved to Manchester. Following her studies in Gateshead Seminary, Tamara took a position teaching in primary schools as a SENCO and 1-1 tutor. After being introduced to each other by Shmullys sister, they got married in 2015. They first settled in Israel before returning to Manchester after a short period . Back in Manchester, Tamara resumed her role as a tutor in one of the local Jewish primary schools. Shmully joined the faculty at Darchei Torah doing what he loves best- inspiring young adults to develop, grow and just enjoy life. Upon joining the Rabbinic Training Academy led by Rabbi Shaul Rosenblatt, in 2018 Shmully and Tamara along with their 2 children Gila and Ariel moved to Welwyn Garden City. On this program the Aronsons hope to nurture and broaden their skills as community leaders, as well as to gain a clearer perspective of the challenges and issues facing British and world Jewry today. In March 2019, Shmully and Tamara Aronson took up their first community position with us at Sutton Synagogue.
