Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut (AUB) bases its educational philosophy, standards, and practices on the American liberal arts model of higher education. A teaching-centered research university, the University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, life-long learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership. The University, which was granted institutional accreditation in June 2004 by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States, currently offers more than 120 programs leading to the bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. Since its founding in 2006, Ayyam Gallery has become one of the Arab world's leading art spaces. With a selection of cutting-edge painting, sculpture and photography that represents some of the Middle East's most exciting talent, the gallery has sought to promote the region's dynamic cultural scene at home and abroad. Its continued commitment to the expansion and progression of local art has led to a number of landmark initiatives, including blockbuster exhibitions, original publications and special events. Ayyam's founding location in Damascus has revitalized contemporary Syrian art by providing artists and collectors with a blue-chip gallery that is thoroughly involved with local developments and remains abreast of international trends. Through its worldwide efforts, the gallery has single-handedly raised awareness of Syrian art, establishing a significant presence in the global art market while garnering outstanding recognition for its artists. The 5,000 square foot Damascus space has also been a meeting place for regional art, as it has brought a number of established and emerging artists from outside Syria to engage with Damascene audiences. The gallery also has locations in Beirut, Cairo and Dubai.

The IIB's mission is to ensure that federal and state banking laws and regulations provide international banks operating in the United States with the same competitive opportunities as domestic banking organizations. Founded in 1966, the IIB is the only national association devoted exclusively to representing and advancing the interests of internationally-headquartered banking/financial institutions operating in the United States. Its membership is comprised of internationally headquartered institutions from over 35 countries around the world. Collectively, the U.S. branches, agencies, banking subsidiaries, securities affiliates and other operations of the IIB's member banks are an important source of credit for U.S. borrowers and enhance the depth and liquidity of U.S. financial markets. IIB member banks also inject billions of dollars each year into the economies of major cities across the country through the direct employment of U.S. citizens and permanent residents, as well as through other operating and capital expenditures.
