Graham House Community Centre was established in 1988, and provides people within the South Burnett an opportunity to access a range of Services from one location. These Services range from Family Support Services to provide practical and emotional support to families in our community who are experiencing difficulty through to Community Transport that provides transport to frail aged members of our Community. All of our services are provided free of charge to clients with the exception of Transport, while we receive some government funding we rely on gifts and fundraising to expand and develop our services to reach out to more people in need of support and help. How will the funds be used? Research reveals that poverty is growing in Australia with an estimated 2.5 million people or 13.9% of all people live below the internationally accepted poverty line, with your assistance Graham House will be able to assist families to help meet daily needs. Public transport is limited in the South Burnett and it can be difficult for people with a disability or a frail older person, your gift can allow our service to continue to provide direct transport so they can visit their doctor or go shopping. In today's busy world more people feel isolated and lack opportunities to connect with others. Graham House enhances community participation through such programs as Community Kitchen and Community Garden, providing people with opportunities to build relationships with each other and across the community. By donating to Graham House Community Centre you are directly assisting a small not for profit corporation with big ideas to provide high quality inclusive services that responds to the needs of individuals with empathy & dignity.
The overriding aim of this service is to facilitate and provide social, recreational, cultural and community support services to families of refugee and migrant backgrounds to make them self-reliant and increase their social and economic participation. As a family support service, we entail to run community education programs on prevetion of violece against women and children with a focus on gender equality and removal of gender role stereotyping.
