SIC UK has three main aims: • To raise awareness and increase the understanding of the global HIV/AIDS epidemic amongst UK schoolchildren and university students. • To facilitate action and fundraising to help provide practical support, testing and health care treatment in Tanzania. • To minimise the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS in Tanzania through education HIVE (HIV Education) is a scheme set up by SIC UK whereby UK medical students teach pupils in local secondary schools about the global epidemic of HIV/AIDS and its impact both in the UK and abroad. It aims to educate young people about the issues surrounding poverty, global health and HIV/AIDS in an interesting and thought provoking way. Medical undergraduate students visit schools and run interactive workshop sessions targeted at pupils of all abilities aged 11-18. We currently have branches at seven medical schools throughout the UK and are expanding to more each year.
