SunStream is creating an innovative solar and storage microgrid between MovieTowne Guyana shopping center and the University of Guyana Turkeyen campus. The full project will be 2 megawatts or larger, with panels installed on rooftops, parking lots and open spaces at both sites. Phase I of the project will comprise rooftops at the MovieTowne Guyana complex, while Phase II will expand capacity at the mall and add panels and batteries at the UG campus. SunStream and MovieTowne will also make an investment into local capacity building and skills training by providing undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering students with hands on solar and microgrid maintenance experience via internships and other engagements. Installation will be completed in 2019.
