Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children Information

Sunny Hill annually provides service to over 5000 children. The children come from nearly 300 BC communities. We provide service to children in their own communities by outreach services (28%). At the Sunny Hill site, children come for care as outpatients (65%) and inpatients (7%). 100% of Sunny Hill services are designed to strengthen and support the Child Development and Rehabilitation service network. We are leaders in delivering our educational information and clinical services throughout BC via videoconferencing. Broadcast sessions reached over 500 people within the first 6 months of operation. Some 150 students attend clinics and clinical rotations every year for training in physical and occupational therapies, nursing, speech and language pathology, audiology, social work, psychology, education and medicine. We are one of few sites in Canada providing subspecialty training for developmental pediatricians. Over 300 children and their families are involved in the ongoing research at Sunny Hill, a number equalled by community professionals who participate in research here.
