Summerland Music Society Information

Summerland Music Society was founded in 2010 by pianist Carol Minor and clarinetist/conductor Christopher Bush. This freshly conceived chamber music series is intent on enriching the cultural landscape of the Adirondacks by presenting concerts that combine the traditional classical repertoire with modern gems. We collaborate with internationally recognized guest artists, some familiar to North Country audiences and others performing in the area for the first time. We encourage local music lovers and seasonal visitors alike to come as they are to hear lively and engaging programs that are anything but stuffy. In 2012, we began presenting concerts in partnership with the Folklife Center at Crandall Library. All concerts take place in the library's Christine L. McDonald Community Room in the heart of downtown Glens Falls. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. CAROL MINOR (Artistic Director/Piano) - A native of Lake George, New York, pianist Carol Minor performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. She has appeared in recitals in New York, Boston, London, Taiwan and Canada. Recent venues include London™s Regent Hall, Kaosiung County Recreational Hall (Taiwan), Jordan Hall in Boston, WMP Concert Hall (New York) and the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra's Musicbridge Festival. Other appearances include the Kleshinski Concert Series (Boston), Carnegie Room Concerts (Nyack, NY), New York University, Manhattanville College, University of New Haven, Tolland (CT) Arts Council, Upper Hudson Musical Arts, and the Hyde Collection Museum. Ms. Minor's interest in contemporary works has led to performances at many of New York City's new music spaces including The Tank and The Stone. She has commissioned pieces from Pozzi Escot, Lawrence Dillon, Curtis K. Hughes, Yumi Hara Cawkwell, Izzi Ramkissoon and collaborated with composers Kaija Saariaho, Joan Tower, Karel Husa and Robert Cogan on performances of their music.
