summ.ai was founded in Munich in 2022 by Flora Geske, Vanessa König (née Theel) and Nicholas Wolf. What started as a student project at the Technical University of Munich is now a growing GovTech company with more than 20 employees. Over 400 public sector organizations already trust summ.ai. It all began with the AI translation tool for Easy Language (Leichte Sprache). It automatically translates texts into Easy and Plain Language, following the recommendations of DIN SPEC 33429. This helps public authorities meet the requirements of BITV 2.0 and the German Accessibility Act (BFSG), and makes websites, official notices and information understandable for the around 14 million people in Germany who rely on simple language. Since July 2025, the AI process management software has complemented the portfolio. It lets users capture processes as easily as sending a voice message and turns them into BPMN 2.0 models in minutes instead of weeks. The AI also provides tailored optimization suggestions right away, without the need for a costly consulting project. In 2025, summ.ai won first place at the KGSt Innovation:Award for this solution. The team brings together experience in AI development, design, research and public administration. Some team members have worked in public administration themselves and know exactly where everyday work gets stuck. Together, they share one goal: a public sector where no one is held back by language, and no one struggles with processes that were never written down. We are guided by a clear north star: everyone feels Verwaltungslust instead of Verwaltungsfrust, joy in public administration instead of frustration.
