The University of Belgrade (Serbian: Универзитет у Београду / Univerzitet u Beogradu) is the oldest and largest university in Serbia.
Founded in 1808 as the Belgrade Higher School in revolutionary Serbia, by 1838 it merged with the Kragujevac-based departments into a single university. The University has nearly 100,000 students (including around 1,700 postgraduates) and over 4,200 members of teaching staff.
The University comprises 31 faculties, 11 research institutes, the university library, and 7 university centres. The faculties are organized into 4 groups: social sciences and humanities, medical sciences, natural sciences and mathematics, and technological sciences.
Since its founding, the University has educated more than 330,000 bachelors, around 21,300 magisters, 29,000 specialists and 12,600 doctors
The Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad is a unique complex higher education institution with 6 decades-long tradition and more than 16.000 students.
It consists of smaller organizational units such as 13 departments, chairs, research centers, registrar offices, etc. for appropriate scientific fields and laboratories.
Faculty of Technical Sciences provides higher education in five areas:
- Technical sciences and engineering;
- Mathematics and natural sciences;
- Arts;
- Humanities;
- Medical sciences.
Today, educational activities are carried out through 90 study programmes organized on three cycle degree studies.
First cycle studies are:
• undergraduate academic studies,
• undergraduate professional studies.
Second cycle studies are:
• Master academic studies,
• Specialist academic studies,
• Master professional studies.
Third cycle studies are:
• Doctoral academic studies.
The University of Donja Gorica (UDG) was established in February 2010 in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, as a private higher education institution. It includes 12 faculties, 18 study programs and over 300 engaged professors, associates and researches. UDG offers a unique combination of multi-disciplinary expertise and proactive approach to exponential change of technological and business environment in the world. UDG is aspiring to become a regional leader in organizing events that promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship. Beside Bachelor studies, UDG offers postgraduate and doctoral studies which complement 3 cycles of studies.
In 2022, UDG joins Global Alliance and Partners with America’s most innovative university, Arizona State University, to become center for innovation, transformation, and internationalization in the Balkans region. This partnership significantly improves the quality of higher education and the opportunities that will be open for young people from across the region.
