Studium Information

Studium is a "cyber-pub" or online magazine with articles on various hobbies. It is written, designed, and maintained by myself, Dennis L. Nowicki, originally of Whittier, California. Presently, my profession is a Certified Residential real estate appraiser (www.theappraiser.com), and formerly I was a freelance webmaster, teacher of English in Japan, and of computer software in Los Angeles. I am married, with two children. When I first got online, I was interested in finding informative articles on coins and plastic modeling which included photographs, but none could be found. The web was still in its early stages of predominately text-based sites. So, in late 1995, Studium became my experiment at providing to those with similar interests a site that had what I could not find. I laid out my ideas in a magazine format and designed my "Premiere Issue" using my trusty Micron P100, an HP 3C Scanner, Hot Dog Pro 1.0, and Adobe Photoshop 3.0. I'd study a hobby, often buying what was needed, and get pros to shoot the photos (I'm picky). Then I'd write the articles, and get another issue up. It's been and continues to be great fun. Although the site has gone through several redesigns (to incorporate what I've learned about web site design), I've attempted to make the changes improvements for my visitors.
