Design + Environment + Furniture + Together. Four words. One way of working DEFT is a furniture-focused studio shaped by architectural thinking, cultural curiosity and collaborative making. Founded on more than 20 yrs of global architectural and interior design experience, we design and manufacture bespoke and own-brand furniture and deliver integrated interior projects where space, object and material are conceived as one. We are interior architects who chose to pursue our love of furniture ... not instead of space, but in dialogue with it. Working primarily in timber and natural materials, we collaborate with specialist makers worldwide to create furniture and environments rooted in craft, longevity and human experience. Inspired by culture, art, architecture and nature, we believe that how something is made matters just as much as what it is made from. Every project is led personally by Fiona and Ian Livingston, who assemble a bespoke team of designers, makers and specialists to suit the ambitions of each client and every commission.
