Streamside Environmental provides sediment removal & stream restoration services for impacted habitats using our patented Sand Wand™ technology. Our Sand Wand™ is manually operated, and involves a combination of variable water jet and suction removal, to selectively remove fine sediments from the surface and subsurface of gravel and cobble streams. Habitat restoration is immediate, whereas natural recovery could take decades or longer. The Sand Wand™ can increase subsurface pore space, water movement, oxygen concentrations, and favorable habitat for fish eggs and aquatic food organisms. A restoration can thereby restore fish spawning gravels, and improve habitat for endangered mussels and other aquatic life.
