Established in March 1961, Strathmore School is dedicated to developing the conscience and training the minds of its students so they may usefully serve society. What began as a Sixth Form College with 57 students has grown to provide both primary and secondary education. Today, we implement the Competency Based Curriculum for our primary section and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education for the secondary section, serving nearly 800 students. Our name, derived from Scottish terms meaning "large valley," was inspired by the nearby Strathcona Road. At our core is a deep commitment to academic excellence, moral integrity, and character development based on Christian principles. We believe true education requires a united community. This vision is captured in our motto, "Ut omnes unum sint" (That all may be one), and the three hearts on our coat of arms, symbolizing the equality of all people and the vital cooperation between parents, teachers, and students. We strongly value our association with parents, fostering this partnership through regular meetings and personalized tutor sessions to ensure we work together for the benefit of each boy. Our experienced staff brings together students of unusual promise to form a community conducive to learning. Through daily close contact in the classroom, in extracurriculars, and on the sports fields, our teachers strive to teach goodness, honesty, responsibility, hard work, and humility by personal example. This character development is supported by a vibrant chaplaincy, with spiritual guidance entrusted to Opus Dei, offering personal support to our entire community. Guided by the strength and courage of the lion and the loving sacrifice of the rose depicted on our crest, Strathmore School remains a place of determined fight for excellence, justice, and holistic personal growth.
