Eduskunnan pääsihteerin johtamassa eduskunnan kansliassa työskentelee noin 400 virkamiestä ja 80 kansanedustajan avustajaa. Kanslian kuuden toimintayksikön tehtäväalueina ovat lainsäädäntötyö, valiokuntatyö, kansainväliset asiat, viestintä-, tieto- ja kirjastopalvelut, hallinto sekä turvallisuuspalvelut. Kansanedustajan avustajien tehtävänä on avustaa kansanedustajia valtiopäivätoimintaan liittyvissä tehtävissä. Riksdagen stiftar alla lagar i Finland och fastställer statsbudgeten. Riksdagen väljer statsminister och utövar kontroll över regeringens verksamhet. Riksdagen godkänner också de viktigaste av de internationella överenskommelser som är bindande för Finland och är med och påverkar EU-frågor. Riksdagens kansli skapar förutsättningar för riksdagen att fullgöra sina uppgifter som statsorgan. I riksdagens kansli arbetar ungefär 400 tjänstemän och 80 ledamotsassistenter. Riksdagens kansli har sex verksamhetsenheter som har hand om lagstiftningsarbete, utskottsarbete, internationella ärenden, informations-, utrednings- och bibliotekstjänster, förvaltning och säkerhet. Ledamotsassistenterna bistår riksdagsledamöterna i riksdagsarbetet.
