“So, what’s your pitch?” A friend asked me this the other day (kind of caught me off guard to be honest!) and I thought, “I should probably have a good answer for that question.” Here goes... Planning complexity has become uncoupled from assets. In other words: people have crazy complicated challenges before they have $5M (or even $1M). This is especially true of high income millennials who have kids, winding career arcs, parents who are starting to show signs of their age, maybe some equity compensation or just super variable sales comp, business ownership ambitions, lifestyle design goals, etc. etc. And, at least in our experience, many of these people want to pay someone to help them navigate the financial maze they find themselves in because: - They don’t have time to do it themselves - They know enough to know they could be doing a better job (tax planning, looking at you) - They would like, for once in their life, to hit a medium term goal (kitchen remodel, sabbatical, year abroad) - They want a neutral third party or sounding board to help them navigate values discussions where they might disagree on certain things with their spouse. This one’s fun. They also want to work with someone who is not weird/old/boring, and maybe they want to work with someone who is fun/normal/also a parent of young kids and understands how intense this chapter of life can be. Rewarding obviously, but yeah, intense. So that’s my pitch. Or at least part of it. If you want to chat more about what I actually do and how it compares to what most advisors call “comprehensive financial planning,” let's set up a call with the link below. https://stoneholtwealth.com/get-started (Hi, my name is Will Steiner, I'm the founder of Stoneholt, a dad of three, and at the stage of my life where I only want to work with people I could have a beer with--which is important if I'm going to be your advisor for 30+ years)
