Stone Assistance Information

Stone Assistance is a consulting and expert services company founded in 2014 to bring research and development work carried out within the Department of Civil Engineering and Structural Mechanics of the Faculty of Engineering to the market. We support professionals working with natural stone, construction materials and built heritage throughout the entire material life cycle: quarry extraction, processing in stone workshops, installation on construction sites, diagnosis, restoration and by-product recovery. Our expertise is built around three complementary areas: • Geomaterial characterisation and diagnosis We analyse the physical, mechanical and mineralogical properties of materials using fast, reliable methods that are suitable for small samples, particularly when standardised testing methods cannot be applied. • Technical assistance and process optimisation We advise quarries, stone-processing workshops and manufacturing companies on improving productivity, controlling energy consumption, optimising tool settings and monitoring production equipment. • Heritage conservation, technical expertise and mediation We contribute to preliminary studies, the diagnosis of deterioration, the assessment of treatments, the selection of compatible materials and the support of stakeholders in the event of technical disagreements or disputes. Our approach is based on independence, scientific rigour and field observation.
