Stockingstore.com Inc Information

StockingStore.com was born in a small lingerie boutique in 1986 located in Rochester, New York. The boutique sold lingerie, but we specialized in hard to get hosiery and nylon stockings, and had our own design of garter belts, manufactured for us locally. The first catalog, "Sheer Sensations" came out in 1989. In 1990, our mail order business really started to take off and the boutique was closed to make more room for the increase in hosiery inventory. During this time it became apparent that the major growth area of the catalog was in stockings, hosiery and garter belts, but the hosiery manufacturers in the USA were beginning to switch over to producing pantyhose and some mills were closing up completely because of foreign competition. As chain stores, like Parklane Hosiery, Alberts Hosiery, and Lady Oris closed, "Sheer Sensations" purchased all of their remaining inventories for sale in the catalog. With the sudden rise and apparent popularity of the Internet, "Sheer Sensations" became StockingStore.com in 1995.
