Australian Galleries was established in Melbourne by Tam and Anne Purves in June 1956. Now under the sole directorship of Stuart Purves, Australian Galleries continues to represent significant contemporary Australian artists. The galleries' success reflects the passion and commitment to the artists it represents. Stuart Purves' personal dedication and enthusiasm to the promotion of the arts in Australia is indicative of his confidence in the important role visual art plays in the national and international psyche.

DOMINIK MERSCH GALLERY (DMG) was founded in 2006 and continues to work closely with artists to realise a vibrant and active calendar of exhibitions, fairs and events. DMG represents artists who create conceptually challenging and cerebral works that hold powerful aesthetic impact. This forms the foundation of our aims to lend a discerning eye to art collectors and situate curiosity and critical engagement at the centre of all art encounters. Our exhibiting space is within a light-filled industrial loft in Rushcutters Bay and extends to online spaces using virtual exhibition technology. DMG supports emerging, mid-career and senior artists from Australia and Europe, and focuses on establishing their visibility within the field of contemporary art. Works by our artists are sought after and in major national and international collections. In addition to hosting exhibitions, the gallery is a site of cross-pollination at the forefront of contemporary art and culture. Our program comprises of panel discussions, concerts, special projects and performances conducted by invited curators and artists. We also offer an events-based membership called Kunst Society, which is dedicated to connecting a community of art lovers and providing behind-the-scenes access.
