The Sterling School was founded by director, Ruth Arberman in 1999 to meet the educational needs of students with dyslexia, reading difficulties, and language based learning impairment. Having seen first hand the lack of school age programs in the New York City metro area that provide the appropriate support and remediation for these students, Ms. Arberman started The Sterling School. Our mission at The Sterling School is to provide our students with evidence based, sequential, direct-multimodal support using the Orton-Gillingham methodology to teach reading, writing, spelling, and language arts. Our educational program is designed to promote individual academic growth and foster self-esteem through success.
