We are a member of the Steinbeis Family under the Non-Profit Steinbeis Foundation Key problem in clinical studies For measuring the efficacy of novel therapeutics pharmaceutical companies perform clinical studies. The pathological examination and judgement of tissue specimen is thereby usually a subjective and non-standardizd exercise. In light of the enormous sums involved in drug development, this is not acceptable. Digital Pathology for clinical studies We therefore offer services in the area of „Digital Pathology“ through which diagnostic decisions and measurement of success of clinical studies is based on a rational basis of quantitative data and models. Our long-term research goal is the development of data driven models of diseases. Short term goal is the routine application of digital pathology for the novel rational diagnostics of solide tumors and for rational decisions in clinical trials. Co-development of wet-lab and digital world Our core competence ist he integrated development of immunohistology (IHC) biomarker assays with whole-slide imaging and image processing. Integration hereby means that development works in the wet-lab and computational development of image processing algorithms goes hand in hand. Only this way, the full potential of digital pathology can be leveraged. Strong university network as a basis Building up digital diagnostic assays is complex. We therefore are collaborating with a network of renowned experts in the area of - Pathology - Oncology - Surgery - Tumor biology - Image processing - Bioinformatics - Medical Informatics
