STAR INSTRUMENTS was established by Paul Jones in 1976 in Irvine, California, and relocated to Flagstaff, Arizona, in 1980. In April, 2006, the company was relocated to a new facility in Newnan, Georgia. Customers include manufacturers of quality tube assemblies and complete telescopes, universities, government agencies including NASA, aerospace companies and discriminating amateur astronomers throughout the world. STAR INSTRUMENTS manufactures professional-quality custom optics, specializing in Ritchey-Chretien optical systems. Additionally, we design, fabricate and perform testing of custom optical systems including Classical Cassegrain, ultraviolet, visual and infrared applications as well as mirrors and lens systems. Professional series optical systems are manufactured using AstroSitall or upon customer request, special order materials such as Zerodur, Fused Silica or ULE. STAR INSTRUMENTS provides direct telephone optical design services between the customer and actual optician. We pride ourselves in the design and fabrication of optics in our own facility with the attention to detail and reasonable delivery times. All optics are tested by autocollimation.
