Standing Passengers Information

Standing Passengers is a place for creativity and community to gather and develop relationships with the city, and give platform for exhibition of outstanding and emerging artists. The companys creator, began his career in art and the city with a marker and a garage door in 1989. A long time graffiti connoisseur, he went onto study film at Columbia College Chicago to facilitate the documentation of the Chicago Graffiti scene, which was rapidly being wiped out by the government. Standing Passengers came to fruition back in 2002 as an indie film company set up to create its first feature film, the I Write on stuff documentary. A few years later, Standing Passengers made a second feature film, Lac du Flambeau. With a great affection for art along with a great affection for coffee, Standing Passengers has expanded to become a physical entity in the Noble Square neighborhood of Chicago. This time emerging as a Coffeehouse/Art Gallery, serving quality drinks while displaying quality artists works, attempting to re-create the idea of great coffeehouses of the world that encouraged and developed some of the great artists, and art movements.
