The General Lansana Conté Stadium was created as a result of Sino-Guinean co-operation and has been mostly funded by the Republic of China. The Chinese company Shanghai Construction was in charge of the construction of the stadium. Construction was completed in 2011, and since 2017, the GBM (Groupe Business Marketing) group has taken over the stadium concession as part of the perfect completion of the structure and its operation for the next 30 years. Its inauguration took place on November 24, 2019 during the U20 match between Guinea and Mauritania as part of the UFOA tournament (Union of West African Federations). Guinean Algassimou Bah was the author of the first goal in the history of the stadium. The stadium boasts a 4,400m athletics track, and is designed to host various sporting events (football, athletics), concerts, shows, seminars, or even various businesses.
