St Peter Claver Church Information

Based in Montclair, New Jersey, we are a Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Newark. We are one diverse spiritual community called to follow Jesus Christ. "God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life" John 3:16 Our door is widely open to all through various ministries and services offered in English, Spanish, French and Creole. Saint Peter Claver Church was established in 1931, to serve the African American community of greater Montclair, New Jersey. Today we are a trilingual community with Masses in English, Spanish and French/Creole. In addition to celebrating the Eucharist, our various ministries include Black Catholic Concerns, Women's Fellowship in English and in Spanish, Social Concerns ministry, Youth Group, Neocatechumenal Community, Music ministry, Healing Ministry, Liturgy of the Hours, prayer groups in English, Spanish and French/Creole. We also have Parishioners for Peace and Justice ministry, an active Food Pantry, an outstanding Folkloric Group and Bible Study Classes. We also have partnerships with Alcoholics Anonymous, HomeCorp, NJ Peace Action and Montclair Emergency Services for the Homeless (MESH). During the year we also have various celebrations: Mother's Day, Divino Niño, Our Lady of the Angels, Our Lady of the Miracles, Virgen de Guadalupe, Las Posadas, Christmas Pageant and Christmas Carol.
