In September of 2001, Island Academy International opened its doors to its first students. Today, just over a decade later, this premier academic institution has been successful in its undertaking to provide high quality education to the children of Antigua and to address the economic and social inequalities which often prevent many of the island’s deserving children access to world-class education. The founders envisioned an educational institution which would fulfill the needs of both these students and those from the expatriate community. This vision realized, Island Academy has evolved into a diverse multinational and socioeconomic environment, with our staff and students representing over 20 nations. In such a setting, our students learn to value diversity and respect cultural and socioeconomic differences. A team of dedicated teachers with experience drawn from around the world bring to life an inspiring curriculum which includes unique programs of art, music, drama and sports. We seek to nurture and develop not only intellect, but character, instilling in every student ideas about self-sufficiency, responsibility and life-long learning so they may succeed far beyond the boundaries of our campus at Oliver’s Estate.

Boys find the inspiration and room they need to grow here. As a Catholic college preparatory high school for boys, grades 9 through 12, we welcome young men from all faiths and diverse backgrounds. We draw on a tradition of leadership and a culture of brotherhood where students support each other in striving to do well in all things. In the spirit of Jesus Christ in the Catholic community, the Father Dueñas Memorial School family, comprised of the administration, faculty, staff, parents, guardians and students, is committed to: • Preparing our students for college; • Fostering growth and development spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and physically; • Preparing and empowering our young men for leadership in service of the Church and the larger community. We at FDMS form an evolving educating Christian community. We grow as mentors, role models, and good examples to students and colleagues alike. Strong in the faith and steeped in tradition, and in close collaboration with parents and the community at large, we constantly pursue excellence in education and the development of responsible and productive citizens.
