St Johns River Baptist Association Information

We are a group of Southern Baptist Churches banded together through a command by Jesus to do missions. That is what we are about and that is what we are doing. Our Association has churches in, Flagler, Putnam, and St. Johns Counties. St. Johns County is just south of Jacksonville, and includes both the historic city of St. Augustine and the town of Hastings. The town of Hastings is at the core of some of the best farmland in Florida, producing potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, and all kinds of other great vegetables! The coastal portion of St. Johns County is growing rapidly as people discover the warmth and excitement of living along a beautiful part of the Atlantic coastline. This coastal area includes a number of newly developed subdivisions as well as the proposed Nocatee community development. For the period 2003-2004, St. Johns County was the 9th fastest growing county in the United States! Flagler County includes the cities of Palm Coast and Bunnell. This county has more of that great farmland, but it is also one of the fastest growing counties in the State of Florida! In 2002, Flagler County was the fastest growing County in Florida (by percentage of growth) and it was the 8th fastest growing county in the United States (by percentage)! For the period 2003-2004, Flagler County was the #1 fastest growing county in the United States. Flagler County is unique in that it is also becoming an international community. There are significant numbers of new citizens in the area who speak Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian! Putnam County includes the city of Palatka, where our Associational Office is located, and a number of smaller communities up and down the St. Johns River. The pace of life is a little slower in Putnam County, but even this area is experiencing significant growth. The appeal of Putnam County is the home town atmosphere that will stay even as the growth comes. And like all Southern Baptist Associations, our Association is a voluntary fellowship of Southern Baptist churches in a local area, organized for cooperative missions and ministries, encouraging and enabling churches to be on mission for Jesus Christ, and strengthening one another through fellowship opportunities and mutual support. Or in other words, we believe that WE CAN DO MORE TOGETHER THAN WE CAN DO APART! The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and self-control.
