St Augustine’s College, Cairns is a Catholic day and boarding school, which has been educating boys in Far North Queensland and beyond since 1930. Founded by the Marist Brothers in the tradition of St Marcellin Champagnat, it holds the honour of being the oldest Marist school in Queensland with links to local, rural and international communities. Known locally as Saints, the college features a curriculum designed especially for boys and is renowned for its outstanding academic, cultural and sporting achievements, incorporating a variety of learning, spiritual, physical and recreational experiences. These provide a holistic education aimed at helping students to fulfil their boundless potential. Academic staff enjoy a collegiality and a level of professionalism that attract educators from across Australia and around the world. Although a boys college, our full-time and weekly boarding programs cater for boys and girls. Girls are educated at St Monica’s College nearby, offering a great opportunity for families to educate their sons and daughters in the same city. We are privileged to have four Marist Brothers in our community and they are integral to it. Their legacy of “presence, simplicity, family spirit, and love of work all done in the way of Mary” is the guiding light for all college endeavours. As we near our centenary, St Augustine’s quest is to remain vibrant and contemporary by responding to our students’ ever-changing needs.
