The SPYM is an Indian NGO with a countrywide presence in areas of health and social development for close to three decades. It was established in 1986 by Dr Zeenat and her colleagues from their hostel rooms of Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. The aim was to provide treatment and rehabilitation to young drug addicts. Over the years, the SPYM has expanded all over India and its volunteering programme benefits tens of thousands worldwide. In the last three years, the SPYM has launched a special initiative in India to reform and rehabilitate juveniles in conflict with law and with dependence on narcotics. Over 350 juveniles have been treated and rehabilitated under this scheme. OUR MISSION: Our mission is to reach out to the most disadvantaged section in our society. The main purpose is to enable people to maximize their potential, increase their abilities and enhance human dignity by providing quality services within available resources. The SPYM has been working towards multi-pronged approach to prevent substance dependency, treatment of drug dependents and their rehabilitation including skill-set building.
