Sprout Pictures is an independent Film and Television production company owned by Gina Carter and Stephen Fry. Sprout Pictures is an award-winning independent Television and Film production company founded in 2004 by Stephen Fry and Gina Carter. For television, Sprout's recent broadcast output includes DOORS OPEN, adapted from the Ian Rankin best-seller for ITV, which aired over Christmas 2012 and starred Stephen Fry and Douglas Henshall; STEPHEN FRY: GADGET MAN for Channel 4, and numerous films as part of Sky 1's LITTLE CRACKERS series, starring, amongst others, Stephen Fry, Bill Bailey, Chris O'Dowd and Alan Davies. Sprout's earlier output includes three seasons of the hit drama series KINGDOM for ITV and the landmark documentary series' FRY IN AMERICA, FRY'S PLANET WORD and LAST CHANCE TO SEE for the BBC. In the last year, Sprout Pictures produced ten films in the PLAYHOUSE PRESENTS strand for Sky Arts. These groundbreaking productions include the directorial debuts of Idris Elba, Matt Smith and Marc Warren and feature an impressive gallery of writing and directing talent including Jeremy Brock, Simon Stephens, Jim Cartwright, Rhashan Stone, Sandi Toksvig, Richard Loncraine and Iain Softley. The films have also attracted a stunning array of acting talent including Emma Thompson, David Harewood, Vanessa Redgrave, Stephen Graham, Peter Serafinowicz, Richard E. Grant, Kylie Minogue, Anna Friel, Alison Steadman, Brenda Blethyn, Eddie Marsan, Stellan Skarsgård and Sir Tom Jones. Sprout Pictures has just finished production on the factual series: STEPHEN FRY: OUT THERE, a documentary for the BBC about what it means to be gay in the 21st Century around the world, and STEPHEN FRY'S KEY TO THE CITY, a unique look at the history and culture of the City of London for ITV. Also in production is the third series of MOONE BOY, an IFTA award-winning sitcom created by Chris O'Dowd and Nick Murphy in which Chris O'Dowd also stars. Sprout's current TV development slate includes THE SHEEPISH APPROACH, a comedy series written and directed by Craig Roberts and a further addition to Sky's PLAYHOUSE PRESENTS series, written and directed by Polly Stenham. Our feature film slate includes the animated comedy THE CANTERVILLE GHOST, with the voices of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, together for the first time in 15 years, as well as the action thriller PONTE TOWER with Studio Canal and the historical 'romp com' HALLELUJAH! with the BFI and BBC Films. Sprout Pictures produces work across all genres, which have distinctiveness, passion and quality as their hallmark.
