Square One's new home base on Main Street is also the site of the Family Square, conceived as a community resource and meeting space for the many support groups and family services programs we offer. The Family Square is based on the "family center" concept that integrates multiple services under one roof, an approach that is proven successful across the country. Many of our programs offer fun opportunities for parents and their children to participate together. When adults need to attend to matters without the distractions that watching children can create, we can provide on-site professional child care in a children's room. And because Square One knows the value of early education, there's also a preschool classroom located in the center of the Family Square serving 24 children. At this time, we are active participants in the Department of Early Education and Care's Quality Improvement System and are soon embarking on our NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accreditation. In the world of early education and care this is like the Good Housekeeping seal of approval. Our curriculum is based on national outcome expectactions and all our children are regularly assessed to ensure they are reaching their fullest educational, emotional and social potential. Literacy is a big component of our work with story books and literature incorporated into our daily learning schedules. Field trips are taken regularly to local museums, farms and other learning-focused local attractions.
