Founded in 1902, San Francisco’s LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired promotes the independence, equality and self-reliance of people who are blind or have low vision. We offer blindness skills training and relevant services such as access to employment, education, government, information, recreation, transportation and the environment. We also pursue the development of new technology, encourage innovation, and amplify the voices of blind individuals around the world.

We keep the light shining as the front porch light for our community; We save six historic structures, and we preserve over 19,000 artifacts, and archival books, records and documents. Our archaeological scientists explore hundreds of shipwrecks under the waves and we teach young people about maritime heritage and marine sciences. Our summer camp for children offers scholarships to at-risk youth through a partnership with Sertoma Club. The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, a public authority, is the official marketing and promotional agency for Dare County on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Acting as the business entity of the Dare County Tourism Board, the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau provides the public with current and useful travel-related information, and has a principal mission to grow visitation during less-than-peak season, while sustaining the area's tourism-related economic base during peak visitation months.
