De Zwarte Hond is a design bureau for architecture, urbanism and strategy. We have offices in Groningen, Rotterdam, Cologne and Berlin that employ about 120 professionals. We add quality to the built environment by combining urban design and architecture. We effectively assess what adds value and enhances the quality of life for people, the street, the neighbourhood, the city and the region. We are fully committed to our designs, and we also assume responsibility for their realisation. The end product must be just as ambitious and beautiful as the first proposals.

PUBLIC BUILDINGS Neutelings Riedijk Architects is specialized in the design of complex projects for public, commercial and cultural buildings. We have designed and built theatres, city halls, museums, libraries, hotels, schools, office buildings and mixed-use developments. We have wide experience in balancing the complex functions and logistics of these projects with their often delicate and urban contexts to give them the iconic significance in the public realm that their clients desire. ORNAMENT & IDENTITY In our belief, contemporary ornamentation results in buildings with a powerful expression that create new local identities in a globalized world. In 2018 we published the book ‘Ornament & Identity’, a multi-layered essay that presents the results of our search for expression and identity through a selection of thirty-six of our projects. ASSOCIATIONS For our international projects the work force at our office in Rotterdam is complemented by technical expertise through our association with local partners specializing in architectural engineering, cost calculation and site supervision. This arrangement allows us to put together a team of specialists to meet the specific requirements of each project. AWARDS & PUBLICATIONS The work of Neutelings Riedijk Architects has gained worldwide appreciation through numerous international publications. The office has received awards such as the Gouden Piramide, the Dutch Building of the Year, the Abe Bonnemaprijs, the Rotterdam Maaskant Prize and has been shortlisted for the Mies van der Rohe Award. Our work has been selected for exhibitions in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Venice, Beijing, Sao Paulo, Barcelona and Moscow.
