Focus: Spot is building a search and organization platform for your Cloud data. Product: The product essentially allows the user to search across all of one’s personal social and cloud context. For example, a user can search through his data from services like Gmail, Google Drive, Yammer, Dropbox, Evernote, Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, etc; all from a single interface. And, jointly (with friends and colleagues) organize data around, topics, projects or an idea. The product is designed specifically for tablets, iPad app is currently available in the App Store. Technology: The search platform “brings together” user’s cloud data across personal and social context, stores it as semantic objects in a graph, and indexes it. Indexing technology normalizes entities (people, companies and places) across sources. It supports text search, and graph navigation, including in-files search, and identification of duplicates across different sources. The platform is essentially a virtual filesystem for storing meta-data of semantic objects, such that anything in the personal cloud context of the user can be quickly found, and then used for collaboration, no matter where the physical data is actually stored. The collaboration platform is built on top of instant communication infrastructure, using industry standard XMPP protocol, enabling real-time commenting, presence, availability, location sharing and real time walkthroughs.
