Our original retail store sold designer jeans and tops. In the late 1980's we were selling Jordache, Sergio Valente, Calvin Klein, and Guess? clothing. One day a customer asked if we were going to carry Starter Brand team jackets. A few months later the store was receiving 30-40 calls a day from customers looking for Starter satin jackets. This was the beginning of the licensed sports apparel business for us. Since the big retail chains were beginning to dominate the designer clothing business, it was time for a change. Our love of sports and retail was a natural fit and and we have specialized in licensed sports apparel since 1991. In 1997 the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1955 and the fans went wild. We were getting calls from as far as Sweden and Russia. Customers were looking for Red Wings merchandise and especially anything Yzerman, Shanahan, Fedorov, and Konstantinov. We were shipping jerseys daily and decided it would be easier for our customers if we joined the internet revolution. In December 1998 SportsK.com was opened as a part of Yahoo shopping. We were proud to be designated a Top Service Yahoo Store and have maintained this designation since 1999.
