SPMP Information

SPMP aims to be the leading responsible producer of antimony in the world, while supporting the goals of the mineral processing sector of Oman. Srategic and Precious Metals Processing LLC (SPMP) was established in 2015 as a joint venture company between the Oman Investment Fund, now Oman Investment Authority (40%), Tri-Star Resources PLC from London (40%) and Dutco Natural Resources from Dubai (20%), to build a modern metallurgical plant operated to the highest Health, Safety and Environmental standards. The plant will produce high purity Antimony (Sb) metal used in lead and tin applications and Antimony Trioxide (ATO) for the plastics flame-retardant market. Gold doré and gypsum will be produced as bi-products. Located in the Sohar Industrial Free Zone in the Sultanate of Oman, the plant benefits from centralised logistics routes, a secure supply of inexpensive energy, modern infrastructure, an experienced workforce and strong industrial partners. SPMP is part of the Sultanate’s plans to increase the contribution of the non-oil sectors to the diversification of the local economy.
