Spectral Genomics Information

Spectral Genomics makes arrays from BAC (Bacterial Artificial Chromosomes) clones. A BAC is a cloning vector derived from the E. coli fertility plasmid, the F-factor. BACs can be used in the cloning of large DNA fragments, on average approximately 200kb long, and are ideal as cloning vectors for the sequencing of whole genomes. Spectral arrays include the Spectral Chip 2600, designed to survey the entire genome at high resolution, and the Constitutional Chip, designed to test for DNA structural defects in a large number of chromosomal regions known to be associated with specific syndromes. Spectral makes all its arrays employing its patented technology (US Patent No. 6,048,695). Spectral Genomics BAC arrays are ideal for array-based genome profiling. Our BAC arrays provide the capacity to perform high-resolution genome scans required for the detection of chromosomal imbalances that are common events in most tumors and many congenital abnormalities. Spectral Genomics' BACs are obtained from public clone libraries and are independently positioned and/or verified by PCR and sequencing, ensuring researchers the highest accuracy of results. Each Spectral kit contains two Bacterial Artificial Chromosome arrays, Spectral HYB Buffer I, Spectral HYB Buffer II, Spectral Labeling Buffer and Spectral Dnase/Rnase- free solution. Spectral Genomics' arrays are hybridization ready. Each order is accompanied with an instructional DVD that illustrates how to obtain optimum results from Spectral Chips.
