Spectra-Map Information

Spectra-Map Ltd is a Daventry, UK based company which provides spectral consultancy services and spectrometer sales/rentals to the mining and petroleum industries, using the SpecCam imaging infrared spectrometer. The company developed the SpecCam for automated, real-time mineral analysis and logging from a variety of materials including drill core, cuttings, RC chips and powders; these measurements can be done at well-site, office or core storage facility. The SpecCam is an unique instrument in that it can make millions of spectral readings per day in the Near Infra Red (NIR), and rapidly build up a detailed image of each sample. Its ability to acquire a huge volume of data means that the mineralogical data becomes statistically more accurate, with less chance of errors of omission or commission developing. This information can be used with greater confidence by explorationists and geologists to identify a specific mineral type or group of minerals.
