Built in the Localization Trenches Spartan Software, Inc. (“Spartan”) was founded in San Francisco in 2008 by veterans of the localization industry. Originally operating as a custom software developer for enterprise localization departments, we spent our early years building a robust portfolio of integrations across content management systems (CMS), translation management systems (TMS), machine translation (MT), and terminology databases (TD). Beyond integrations, we developed specialized applications, including MT project management tools, TMS-integrated Linguistic Quality Evaluation (LQE) platforms, and comprehensive systems for localization accounting and asset management. Enter Argo By 2014, as customer ecosystems grew more complex, large enterprises were increasingly relying on homegrown middleware to bridge the gap between their CMS and TMS. At the time, no commercial project management tool existed specifically for enterprise localization. In response, we developed Argo: a resilient hub-and-spoke localization orchestration system. Featuring built-in request management, Argo offers a comprehensive suite of tools for automation and collaboration tailored to the unique needs of global teams. With extensive API support, it integrates seamlessly with various content and translation management systems; alternatively, customers can build custom connectors using Argo’s APIs. Since 2018, the platform has empowered customers to automate and scale complex global processes, available both on-premises and as a service (SaaS).
