The nonprofit Urban Institute is dedicated to elevating the debate on social and economic policy. For nearly five decades, Urban scholars have conducted research and offered evidence-based solutions that improve lives and strengthen communities across a rapidly urbanizing world. Their objective research helps expand opportunities for all, reduce hardship among the most vulnerable, and strengthen the effectiveness of the public sector.

Community Change, and its sister organization Community Change Action, work to build the power and capacity of low-income people, especially low-income people of color, to change the policies and institutions that impact their lives. "Community Change” is both our name and a statement of our purpose. Our goal is to dramatically improve material conditions for people struggling to make ends meet in the United States, and we have a 15-year plan to do so. On the path ahead, our role is to fuse the power of organized people, bold ideas, and political clout — a three-dimensional power that we believe is the recipe for an economy and democracy where everyone can thrive.

PolicyLink is a national research and action institute that is working to build a future where all people in the United States of America can participate in a flourishing multiracial democracy, prosper in an equitable economy, and live in thriving communities. We imagine a future where everyone benefits from responsive and accountable governing systems and structures. People have good jobs and rising standards of living. The communities they live in are places that support the collective dignity and well-being of all people. Housing is affordable, transportation is accessible, and all people can access safe water. We imagine a nation where a person’s race or zip code does not predict their life outcomes. A future where no one is expected to experience poverty or hunger or destitution, and there is no hierarchy of human value. There is, instead, a nation that works in service of our collective flourishing. We invite you to partner with us, so our movement can take up the unfulfilled promise of “We, the People,” and deliver a nation that at last serves and honors all.
