Space Orbital Services Corporation (SOS) is a California-based commercial business venture for the production and fielding of an In-Space Service satellite system that will provide a range of satellite services. A reusable, long lifetime Space Service capability could immediately support responsive space operations such as repositioning space assets to meet user demands, return satellites that have drifted from their desired locations, remove non-functional satellites to safe havens where they pose no threat to operational satellites, perform space surveillance to detect and track in-space objects, and perform in-orbit servicing such as refueling. Market assessments for this "AAA in Space" service predict substantial annual revenues with excellent margins exceeding 50% that will encourage job growth in a brand new industry. The SOS system services will be operational within ~36 months after funding is secured.
