Southgate Medical Group Information

Southgate Medical Group is a group of 5 doctors - 4 female and 1 male - working as a general partnership known as Dr Bhargava and Partners. The practice operates from 137 Brighton Road, Crawley and the partnership cares for over 10,000 patients. Dr Philip Wynn-Jones started the practice when he first came to Crawley in 1956 and his first surgery was in a flat on the Brighton Road, which later moved to 2 Forester Road. In 2011 the partnership moved to a purpose built surgery in Brighton Road which enables the Doctors to offer more healthcare services to its patients. There have been a number of changes in the Doctors over the many years since Dr Wynn-Jones retired in 1982. Dr Kirwan retired in 1991 having been in the practice since 1969. Dr Wellbelove joined the practice in 1971 and retired in 1997. Dr Blechynden joined in 1982 and retired in August 2014, Dr Bhargava joined in 1991, Dr Wilkinson joined in 1997, Dr Patel joined in 2011 and left in February 2015, Dr Morgan joined in 2012, Dr Olivier joined in 2013, and Dr Laura Hill joined in April 2014. Drs Bhargava, Wilkinson and Olivier are Partners of the practice, and Drs Morgan and Hill are salaried GP's. The practice has a long commitment to prevention of disease and promotion of good health. The Doctors and their supporting staff continue to update their skills and expertise by attendance at both in-house and external training. The shared vision for the practice is to provide out of hospital integrated care for its patients when they require it. This includes providing other healthcare services such as the Alexander Technique and minor surgery in addition to GP services. The Proactive Care Team (a team who support the patients of all surgeries in Crawley with long-term health conditions or complex health and social care needs) are based at Southgate Medical Group and occupy the first floor.
