"If the women moves forward, the whole community moves forward" South Asian Women’s Rights Organization (SAWRO) was established by a group of immigrant women from the Oakridge-Crescent Town neighborhood in 2008. Two key objectives of SAWRO include: Alleviating the poverty experienced by many people in the community; and increasing the participation of the community’s women and girls in Canadian economic, social, cultural and political life.
